The Future of Creativity is Here!

Ringling College Department of Motion Design 2013 Sizzle Reel from ed cheetham on Vimeo.

I am Futurist in Residence and guest lecturer at the Ringling College of Art + Design.  The reason is simple: creativity is the most important quality for humanity and America in the Shift Age.  Innovation is nothing other than the introduction of creativity into the marketplace.  If we therefore value innovation we must honor and support creativity.

In the Wow! section of this site  you can see some highlights of the 2013 Computer Animation graduates of Ringling.  Wow!

Super Computer at the University of Illinois “Blue Water”:

Here  are some photos I took with my phone while on a tour of the facility. It was a bit cold inside, something necessary for compensating for the heat such computing power generates. This is the latest in the future of computing. It truly is Future Wow!

Internet and Media Merge

In reference to The Future Wow! of Media , what follows here is an example of how the distinctions between media are ending.

Where would this video have been before You Tube? Certainly a Future Wow! Car commercial!.

Google didn’t have impact until this century, and now it is a verb. This woman makes that point clear.

This video is a merging of advertising, CGI, music and surreal images. Of course it is on YouTube. YouTube is not only the second most used search engine, it is now the connective tissue for TV and video around the world.

This video was also chosen as it is evocative of the Burning Man festival as there will be a Future Wow! camp at Burning Man 2012. Stay tuned here for more about this in the weeks and months ahead.

Inner Space // Outer Space

“The first half of the 21st century is and will be one of if not the most significant times in the history of humanity.  The rate of shift and change will be at a faster rate than anytime in recorded history. All of the significant categories of human endeavor will be in a high degree of shift and change.  2012-2050 will be a time of unprecedented transformation”.  – David Houle

“In the 20th century man had to wear special suits to explore outer space.  In the 20th century will man have to put on special suits to explore inner space?  Will we have to wear suits or use  technology to “jack in” or will we be able to leave both behind?”   -David Houle
